Dr. Joachim Geers
Abdominale heelkunde – Hepato-Pancreato-Biliaire heelkundeDr. Joachim Geers promoveerde als arts op 27 juni 2013 met grote onderscheiding aan de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Nadien volgde hij de opleiding in de Algemene Heelkunde via de KULeuven in AZ Turnhout, AZ Damiaan Oostende, Maxima Medisch Centrum Veldhoven en UZ Leuven. Op 4 juli 2019 werd hij erkend als arts-specialist in de heelkunde.
Hij specialiseerde zich nadien verder in de Abdominale Heelkunde en in het bijzonder in de Hepato-Pancreato-Biliaire chirurgie te UZ Leuven onder prof. dr. A. D’Hoore en prof. dr. B. Topal. Hepato-pancreato-biliaire chirurgie omvat de heelkunde die zich bezig houdt met de chirurgische behandeling van ziekten aan de lever (hepar), de alvleesklier (pancreas) en de galblaas met de galwegen (biliair).
Sinds 1 augustus 2020 is hij werkzaam als chirurg in AZ Damiaan Oostende en combineert dit met een consulentschap op de dienst Hepatobiliaire chirurgie onder leiding van prof. dr. B. Topal in UZ Leuven.
